Have you seen that movie “The Bucket List”?  In the movie two very different older men become close friends and make up a list of things they want to do or see before each one “kicks the bucket”.  Well, my bucket list is incomplete and much too long to have any chance of crossing off all the items.  Two items have been crossed off during an effort of over ten years.

On Saturday, December 1, 2012 the Sun Valley Fliers of Phoenix, AZ hosted the first Starter Scale contest at their Cave Buttes flying site. This event was advertised as a teaching event only for newcomers to scale competition, and it featured the new US Scale Masters entry level Pro/Am Sportsman

Greetings to all scale enthusiasts. First, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kenny Kear, I’m a member of the USSMA (Member #152). I’m also a life member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (L92357). I have been married for 30 plus years to my wife Mary Lee Kear (USSMA member #153). I’m a USAF veteran. My wife and I have 4 kids (all grown) and two grand kids. I have been involved in model aviation since the age of 8. I’m currently employed at Honeywell International as a lab technician testing land, sea and air components for various customers around the world.
