Here is a video introduction to Mel Santmyers' new static judging "turn-table" which can be found in the current 2013 Competition guide.
This "turn-table" is VERY easy to build / field assemble / use during static judging. It will enable you to easly position your model to match the angles in your photos. Remember, the OUTLINE & COLOR/MARKINGS judges need to compare your model to the photos that you provide.
Sometimes quality / accurate 3-view drawings are not available and for some aircraft 3-views simply do not exsist. So you must then do your best at finding photos that show the plane at the profile, head-on and plan-form ( top ) views. Sometimes this is just not possible. All that you may find are a couple of old B&W shots taken by an amature at less-than-advantages angles. No worries with Mel's rotating stand because you simply rotate it so the judges are viewing your model at the same angles of your photos. A good and expierenced OUTLINE judge can evaluate a model's outline ( or shape ) from just about any angle.
Judges need to remember; "Photos always take presidence" over 3-view drawings.
So please take a few minutes to watch the video and provide feedback on the "turn-table" ( not my editing
)
Tell us what you think. Will you use it? ....at least give it a try.
Rotating judging stand for scale r/c aircraft
On behalf of myself and Mel, thank you for your consideration.

Thank you Ken for a great video and to Fred Roehler,Duane Neese for their airplane demo and of course Richard for the weight test at about 200 lbs.
Two weeks or so passed and Curtis allowed the judging stand to be used at the Hemet qualifier for the first time. I am pleased to report that everyone including the judges said they are pleased.
As previously mentioned the stand the new qualifing method and the new class names gives the Scale Masters a new direction. Mel.

Thanks for the great Video which gives people a good perspective of Static judging - a good tool for training. The stand is excellent and simplifies the chore of displaying the model to the judges.
Thanks Again,
Roly
