Title: Truely heart braking ... where's the "buzz"?
Post by: rcphotog on Tue, 09/09/14, 07:45 AM
We are less than 10 days away from the 35th Annual U.S. Scale Masters Championships!
...where's the enthusiasum, the chatter, the "who's going banter and friendly challenges" ?
...WHERE'S THE BUZZ?
I visit our website each day to have a look at the two lists:
Registered pilots = only 5 names
Static judging registry = only 10 names
This alone is so sad and discuraging. Is this all the pilots who are competing? Are there more out there who will just show up but not feel it's important to RSVP / pre-register? If I was able to compete, I would let my host know. It's just the polite thing to do. Afterall, your host club is putting forth great effort to provide you the best experience possible. They have added additional shade structure, expanded parking and other considerations just for this BIG annual event. I can not beleive that more pilots have not pre-registered. And I certinly hope (for everyone's sake) that there will be more than a dozen pilots competing.
--the BUZZ
...by this time I would expect to be reading comments by excited contestants preparing their models, making those last minute checks, bragging about "going to the Scale Masters Championships"
...but no...nothing. I see no chatter anywhere on the net. Including here on our own home-site. I see only one thread started by Larry B on rcscalebuilder back on Aug 3rd with only two replys made by Don Rice & Mitch Baker, niether of whom will be competing appearently.
I started a thread on rcuniverse back on July 13th to announce the big event but have received no replys.
I see no thread on rcgroups
Our Facebook fan page is dead as well. Even the host club's FB page has no "buzz". I see absolutely no effort by anyone to reach out to promote for this event. If I were the C.D. of this event at this time, I would be a little concerned by the lack of any chatter anywhere.
I was going to produce event souvenier posters like I did for Gunsmoke this year, but with no internet "buzz" and only 10 pilots registered, I can't justify the expense.
I'm truely heartbroken by what I see this year.
So I ask you,
Where's the buzz?
Sincerely,
Ken Young

Ken,
There are more registered pilots but I am behind.  Lost my job on Aug 25th and I have been a little out of it.  I plan on getting things caught up over the next few days.  The few that are doing the planning have little extra time to post things.  Just think of it as the calm before the storm.. :)  But keep on them!!!!

See-ya
