Title: Southwest Area Qualifiers - 2014
Post by: rcphotog on Thu, 01/16/14, 06:45 PM
I don't want to step on any toes by releasing this info but;

Two Southwestern area qualifiers are scheduled for March & April 2014.

Gunsmoke - hosted by... OneEighth Airforce - is scheduled for February 28, - March 2.
Hemet - hosted by... Hemet Model Masters - is scheduled for April 19-20

Hopefully the contest directors will be posting all event info soon. I attended the AMA Show and we (Scale Masters booth) handed out nearly 80 flyers for the Hemet contest and Mike Peck, representing OneEighth Airforce handed out many flyers as well.
Curtis Kitteringham is the C.D. for the Hemet qualifier.
Austin Goodwin is the C.D. for Gunsmoke - note: Austin was involved in a traffic accident and so he will need help running the contest and our wishes for a speedy recovery.

ps; I am a club member of the Hemet Model Masters and it's my goal to make our qualifier the "Best in the West".  ;) Just because the 2014 Championships won't be on the West Coast doesn't mean we can't have a great event! Each qualifier is, or should be thought of, a stand-alone contest whether or not the Championships are in your region. We will still have trophys, prizes, food and FUN! :)
...so come out to your local qualifier and support the U.S. Scale Masters (with your membership) so we can continue having scale contests. "Competition makes us better builders and flyers". Not to mention the great camaraderie! :)

Ken,

I couldn't agree more with you comments...so...who all is planning on attending the "Gunsmoke Qualifier" in just a few short weeks? I can guarantee from my point of view that this will be a great time for ALL. New pilots, well seasoned pilots will have a blast. As a flight judge I'll be there to help make your flight line experience a very memorable one. Yes...one you will be able to tell all your kids and grand kids about for years to come.

So...who's coming?   ;D ;D ;D

I'll have the L-4 at both Gunsmoke and Hemet again this year in Pro-Am Pro. Fixed the problem I had last year (non-gas safe tank stopper, even though it was listed as gas safe) so should be able complete all rounds this time :>)

Jerry,
Good to see your name on the "California-Convoy" list.  ;D
I know of about a dozen pilots joinning our "Great Big Convoy" heading for Mesa in less than two weeks!
It's going to be an invasion on the 27th and 28th!
There's a new sheriff in town and he has wanted posters everywhere. "Wanted: pilots and builders"
"Reward for the fastest gun alive"
...so head to Mesa,Az.
GUNSMOKE 2014 will test your grit and ability to go the distance.  8)

See you there!
Ken.
