Dick Heninge Passes

Former owner of Proctor Enterprises and longtime USSMA supporter, Dick Heininge passed away late March. USSMA donated $150 to Betty Heininge to give to the cause of her choice. I understand from conversation with Joe Topper (current owner of Proctor Enterprises) that Betty is working with the Evergreen Museum to set up a program to encourage youngsters to build model airplanes. As soon as we have firm details on this we will post the information here.
Below is a copy of the letter Betty sent to USSMA:
4-8-11
To U.S. Scale Masters,
Our family wants to thank you so very much for your kind words about Dick and his love for scale modeling with his contribuons to the craft. We recognize how important it was to him – to share that skill and love of modeling.
Your generous gift will be to encourage young, and for beginners, as he was when in grade school. He was first introduced to it [modeling] by a gentleman bringing his work to demonstrate in the classroom.
I know Dick will feel this the best use of your gift. We can’t thank you enough for honoring him as we do also, a husband, a father and a very good friend.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Heininge

P.S. And we certainly acknowledge Lou Proctor of Proctor Enterprises who sparked WWI aircraft; selling to Dick – enlarging the business and, thankfully, Joe Topper still maintains with Gary Norton’s help!
