Title: New leadership
Post by: Curtis Kitteringham on Mon, 11/11/13, 05:54 PM
To the USSMA members and friends by now all know that Bernie Boland has resigned from the position of National Chairman. With this said we the board wish the best for Bernie in his new adventures. The board voted Curtis Kitteringham to fill the remaining time, this was done from  four choices, Curtis K,Mitch Baker,Tim Albright and Roly Worsfold. I have appointed Randy Warkentin to finish my term as West Coast Vice Chairman. I have appointed Mike Peck as  Technical & Training (judge certification process), Jeff Whitney to Chair the Advisory Committee ( at this time they have a half dozen or more items on their plate to work out). Jeff Lovitt is stepping up to fill the position of Area Director for Randy Warkentin. I am looking for a Marketing person, this position needs someone well connected with the hobby industry, that not only can work to support the USSMA but help the USSMA support the hobby industry also. My goal is to grow the USSMA in membership, participation, to find and keep a year to year sponsor, so we can have those adds in the magazines, help bring judges into the champs and be more independent. We are getting help from the AMA for the 2013 Champs, at this time there is a web page on the AMA site, with a article coming in the AMA magazine and Dist. 10 web site. I would like to congratulate Tom Wolf our Grand Champion and Mitch Baker for his Harris Lee Award. We all say that we need new people to come and fly in the USSMA contest, well this year we did, young new interested competitors. From their late 20's down to 10 years of age (yes) and they all did very well. We had competitors from different country's, this you will find in the news letter. We have a long list of items to work on, should some of the items been taking care of from the past yes, no excuses, we will do our best for as many people and changes as we can. For this year one item we put into place, was the minimum score to qualify. This put some big numbers on to the qualified list for the Champs, helped the low attended qualifiers and also helped with the previously qualified count at all qualifiers. I believe we are on strong footing Thanks in part to the Woodland Davis club, and the contestants that came out, together I think we have a good future.

Thank You for your support
